Nobody is officially in this role now. Some people are dabbling
in small parts of it (such as Tim Parkin and others working on
python.org).
I think we need someone with both programming and some marketing
knowledge. Someone just in marketing wouldn't necessarily know
what to do w/ Python without a lot of hand-holding. Also,
someone that hasn't done grass roots marketing wouldn't really
work well either.
I think I said this before: I really liked Jeff Rush's list.
It seems like a good basis for a marketing director's activities.
