At PyCon, I was surprized to see how many people still care.
In the PSF member meeting, doing advocacy was identified as
pretty much the main goal members want for the PSF outside of
protecting the IP and underwriting PyCon. Not what I expected,
but it's good. I think in the last few years people have seen
what grass roots marketing can do w/o being obnoxious so maybe
the community is more receptive to it.

Turning interest/energy into action has its usual problems, but
now we also have the new website (coming out shortly but already
visible at testing-www.python.org) which I hope might act as a
focal point. It has parts devoted to attracting new users and we
certainly could use help adding new content and identifying and
indexing some of the good things that are already out there.

If you want to contribute, please let me know.
