Wing IDE 1.1 for Windows and Linux

Brookline, MA -- January 2, 2002

Archaeopteryx Software announced today the release of version 1.1 of Wing IDE, an integrated development environment for Python and mixed language software projects.

Wing IDE and Python focus on increased programmer productivity, and are designed to integrate well with other tools and programming languages.

"Productivity has always been our focus and productivity is what our customers can expect when they incorporate Wing IDE and Python into their software development strategy. There is ample evidence that programmers can be many times as effective when using Python over languages such as C/C++, Java, or Visual Basic. We're hearing it from our customers and we're seeing it in our own development," said Archaeopteryx Software's CEO, Stephan Deibel.

Key features of Wing IDE version 1.1 include:

  • Source code browsing and source structure analysis
  • Full graphical debugger, interactive debug probe, and ability to debug remote processes
  • Powerful source code editor, including emacs mode, syntax highlighting, auto-completion, auto-indentation, code folding, multi-view editing, indentation guides, source structure menu, multi-part key bindings, and keyboard/command macros
  • Software project manager
  • Many customization options

Wing IDE version 1.1 runs on Windows 98, NT4, 2000, and XP, and on most Linux distributions.

A single user license for Wing IDE costs $149 US (Linux) and $179 US (Windows). Educators and students may purchase licenses for $45 US (Linux) or $55 US (Windows).
